Event Description
Jeffery Long (Elizabethtown College) explores the evolution of Vivekananda’s Vedanta Society, established in 1894 New York, as a global and multi-ethnic movement. How has the movement had to reimagine or redefine itself in the light of the challenges and opportunities presented by spiritual cosmopolitanism? This talk reviews the history of Vedanta Society centers, examines the issues that they face in the present day, and outlines a vision of their possible future.
