Nicole Aldrich joins the Office of Religious Life this year as Director of Chapel Music and of the Princeton University Chapel Choir, a position which merges her twin career paths of academic choral conductor and church musician. Dr. Aldrich sees the conductor’s podium as more than a place to facilitate great music-making: it is also a platform for encouraging growth, understanding, and trust among singers. Her work with the Office of Religious Life anchors her love of teaching, her experience with innovative liturgical and concert programming, and her overarching goal of musical excellence in a foundation of faith and inclusion.
Before coming to Princeton, Dr. Aldrich served for 10 years as Director of Choral Activities at Washington University in St. Louis. She has also held teaching appointments at the University of Maryland and the University of Delaware, and her work as a church musician spans multiple denominations and nearly three decades. She holds a DMA from the University of Maryland and an MM from Northwestern University.
