Life at Princeton can be stressful, but in the midst of it all are many places of beauty and peace.

Murray-Dodge Hall has two prayer rooms on the third floor, one dedicated to the Muslim community’s use for continual daily prayers (salaat) and the other for any who want to stop in. There are outdoor places of peace as well, including the beautiful Prospect Gardens, the 9/11 Memorial Garden (next to Chancellor Green), and the courtyard of Murray-Dodge.

University Chapel

The magnificent University Chapel is open from 7 am to 7 pm each day and is a quiet and awe-inspiring place to reflect, think, meditate, or pray.

Murray-Dodge Courtyard

The Murray-Dodge Courtyard, adjacent to several of the most traveled campus walkways, is a favorite place to pause, rest, and reflect.
In honor of its 25th reunion in 1994, the Class of 1969 donated this marble sculpture and the garden behind Murray-Dodge. The lyrics inscribed on the stone, from Joni Mitchell’s famous song “Woodstock,” conjure up the spirit of the class’s Princeton era.

Prospect Gardens

9/11 Memorial Garden

The 9/11 garden is located near the east side of Nassau Hall and is a serene memorial to the 13 Princetonians who died in the attacks of that day.
“Remembrance,” a bronze bell suspended on a wooden post at the entrance to the 9/11 memorial garden, was designed by Toshiko Takaezu, a renowned ceramist and a former Princeton faculty member in the Program in Visual Arts.
